CERT is a national program under the Citizens Corps umbrella to prepare you to respond to immediate needs following a major disaster.

CERT Training is FREE!

The FREE CERT training educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact Charlottesville and our surrounding communities. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in our community.

Community Emergency Response Team training helps everyone to be better prepared to respond to and cope with disasters and emergencies at home, in your neighborhood, at work and throughout your community. Classes are offered twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring.
