Step Out For a Safe and Healthy
Community
This event was held in October 2004 as a combined effort by
the
Thomas Jefferson Health Department, Police, Fire, Rescue, Hospitals, and
Response Agencies

The Deputy Assistant to the Governor for Commonwealth
Preparedness,
Mr. Robert Newman Jr. spoke to us about events such as ours as well
as what was happening on a State-wide basis.
The picture on the far left is Mr. Kaye Harden, Emergency Services Coordinator
for the County of Albemarle, City of Charlottesville, and UVA, introducing
Mr. Robert Newman Jr.

The main attraction for this event was the Health
Department
Medication Distribution for a Biological Emergency Exercise.
This was a simulation of an event where individuals from our community
had come in contact with Anthrax at a local theater. 300 individuals
were cycled through various stations set up for the drill.
